My First ever EP!!!

EErie EP

This EP is a collection of songs made to explore creativity, grouped together for their creepy-themed titles or ominous melodies. With an overarching theme of dealing with the monsters in your closet, and also of being okay with being a bit of a monster, yourself, this project is a diagnosis of the fear in the world around us, and a prescription of reliance on God.

As you go through the tracks, you'll be taken on a musical ride, and an emotional one. While a couple tracks have hard-hitting drums and danceable rhythms, others are mellowed out and reflective. All-around, the project is paced like a blockbuster film!

So run with me as the monsters chase us and catch us, as we escape into haunting low places, and as we are finally rescued from our peril.

1.)  Monster
Monster is a fun song, depicting myself as a type of... unsavory creature if you will. Going through middle and high school as someone who wasn't in the "in" crowd, wasn't exactly "cool," someone who was quite awkward at the worst of times, It's easy to catch a lot of funky looks from people. And it can make a person feel, quite like a monster.
This song is my celebration of myself and my individuality. The dumb looks, the "chains" are broken, I'm tired of being subjected to that stupidity, now this monster is free, and he's loving this freedom.

I made this song with an app called Drum Pad Machine on my phone in ninth or tenth grade. Maybe in my freshman year of college, I revamped it with some newer drums and better mixing in FL Studio, got it recorded, and here it is!

4.) Save Me
Save Me is an exploration of the different sources of fear and division I see in the world around me. The song was written right after the initial explosion of the George Floyd incident, in the midst of a lot of anger, anxiety and widespread fear among Americans.
There's also allusion to the ease with which people find themselves offended in America. Many people seem to think they have some higher knowledge, when really there are just more things that they will allow to destroy their peace at a moment's notice.
Save Me is a BANGER of a song, featuring some completely non-Western rhythms, a synth lead straight out of a Skrillex song, and a scream that will send shivers down your spine!

6.)  EErie
Kind of along the same vein as Save Me in content and message, this song really is just my take on the book of Ecclesiastes.
The book speaks a lot on the vanity and uselessness of most human pursuits, and we all know the ones I'm talking about. And in light of all of this, there are those who seem to be afraid to even discuss these types of things, so they come up with lies to cover up their darkness.
As of late, dealing with pain has become a big issue; overcoming trauma of all kinds, and bringing everything to light has become a trend. To be honest, I'm glad it has. Because when I wrote this, it really wasn't as big of a deal, and people would sooner put some type of personal Novocain on their problems than ever talk to anyone about anything.

7.)  Haunt

I'm not sure where I got the idea from, but one day I just had the idea to make a creepy worship song, and Haunt was born!
Back during the times when I would scour SoundCloud for beats to write to for practice (because I didn't have money to actually buy any beats), I stumbled across this laid-back beat titled "ghost", and so accordingly I wrote a song with a title in that same ghostly vein.
A cry to God for His presence, a request for His presence to stay with me when I'm going nuts in the corners of my own mind, and comfort at the end, confirming that God will be with me through my ups and downs, and that He is scarier than anything that frightens me in this world.

9.)  Rescue
Rescue was written towards the end of the Summer of this year. Following the same sentiments as Save me, and featuring many instances of the same blood-curdling scream, it serves as a perfect sequel.
With hard-hitting bass and ghostly percussion, this song makes you wanna shimmy in one moment, and rattles your soul with grim truth in the next. As you dance to the rhythms, you'll be let in on my benumbed and yet exasperated emotional state in response to the events of this year.
Whereas "Save Me" was a diagnosis of the problem of fear, "Rescue" is the prescription; salvation is the answer.

Basically, it just shows Spotify  that people are loving my songs before they are even released, which makes it more likely that the app will push my song out to more people. So if you wanna help me give Spotify's algorithm a swift kick in the can, pre-save the EP, I'll see you on Friday!

Thank you for your support!
